Over 130 years of Ilse Technik
From furniture manufacturer to a system specialist in the caravan industry

function meets design

It all began in 1890 with a workshop for small but fine furniture.

The founding family Ilse opened the manufactory in Uslar near Göttingen, where the company is still based today.

The foundation stone for an extraordinary success story is laid.

From the very beginning, Ilse has stood for unique quality: for the exquisite small pieces of furniture that are soon to be found in middle-class living rooms, exquisite woods from all over Europe are brought to Uslar and processed there by hand.

From now on, Ilse stands for innovative lift technology for height-adjustable and flexible furniture and thus advances to become the market leader in Europe.

In the following decades, Ilse managed to keep up with the times through numerous technical developments and patents, especially by setting new impulses.

In 1990, the Vierhaus family business from Rees in the Lower Rhine region took over Ilse Werke.

The founding family Ilse opened the manufactory in Uslar near Göttingen, where the company is still based today.

The foundation stone for an extraordinary success story is laid.

From the very beginning, Ilse stood for special quality: For the exquisite small pieces of furniture that soon found their way into bourgeois living rooms, exquisite woods were brought to Uslar from all over Europe and processed there by hand.

The company grows rapidly, survives two world wars and rapidly gains in size and importance in the young Federal Republic of Germany. The boom of the economic miracle, the desire for prosperity and comfort, especially the new consumer electronics, prove to be an opportunity for the company.

With its music furniture, Ilse hits the trend. The music chests and wooden cabinets for radios become best sellers and Ilse establishes itself as the most important employer in the region. With 2800 people working for the furniture factory in the 50s, Uslar becomes the town of Ilse.

At the beginning of the 60s, Ilse takes the next step towards sustainability: in addition to wood, metal is now also processed. In addition, the company gains a reliable partner to this day in the gas spring manufacturer Stabilus.

From now on, Ilse stands for innovative lift technology for height-adjustable and flexible furniture and thus advances to become the market leader in Europe.

In the following decades, Ilse succeeds in keeping up with the times with numerous technical developments and patents, but above all in setting new impulses.

In 1990, the family-owned company Vierhaus from Rees in the Lower Rhine area took over Ilse Werke.

The strengths of both companies give origin to the Smart home furniture concept, a product line with multifunctional furniture, as if made for small spaces.

Managing director and owner Arndt Vierhaus quickly recognizes the potential for a growing industry: the caravan and motorhome industry. And with success.

Today, hardly any of the well-known manufacturers in Europe can operate without mechanisms and developments from Ilse. Be it the special adjustable table base system, the TV mount and the lift bed inside, or the gas bottle pull-outs on the body of the motorhomes.

The two managing directors Arndt Vierhaus and Marc Blomeyer remain true to the pioneering spirit and the high quality standards of the founder in the fourth generation. Their aim is to create new visions at Ilse through research and development: for sustainable, intelligent and durable products made in Germany.
